Having announced the launch of two new services, Philippine Airlines is set to add more to its USA to Philippines flights. The airline will resume its services to Los Angeles and launch new flights to Seattle. Starting in May 2020, Philippine Airlines will resume flight services between Los Angeles and Cebu three times a week using a Boeing 777-300E. The flights to Cebu from Los Angeles will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Philippine Airlines’ LAX to CEB flights were discontinued in 2017 due to low passenger traffic.

Moreover, in May 2020, Philippine Airlines will also launch direct flights from Seattle to Manila. These flights will also be operated thrice a week – Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays using an Airbus A350-900XWB. Notably, Seattle and the neighboring cities home a sizeable Filipino community of over 100,000 people. The airline already flies to San Francisco, Honolulu, and New York in the United States. The new routes between the US and the Philippines make Seattle and Los Angeles the fourth and fifth destinations in Philippines Airlines’ USA network.

When travelers witness the high amount of passenger traffic in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila, they start appreciating Mactan-Cebu International Airport as an alternate port of entry into the Philippines. Ninoy Aquino Airport is the biggest and busiest airport in the Philippines with annual passenger traffic of over 45 million. It usually takes up to 2 hours or more of waiting time at immigration kiosks, check-in counters, and security checks before you board an international flight.

The downside of Philippine flights from the USA to the Philippines is that the airline is using its older version of the Boeing 777-300ER. Philippines Airlines’ Boeing 777-300ER has the capacity to seat 370 passengers starting with 328 passengers in economy class in a 3-4-3 layout and 42 passengers in business class in a 2-3-2 layout.

Most travelers find the seating layout in Boeing 777-300ER congested on Seattle to Cebu flights. Philippine Airlines’ other service from Seattle to Manila using Airbus A350-900XWB with a seating capacity of 295 passengers won’t disappoint you if you are up to deal with the crowded Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The A350-900XWB can accommodate 241 passengers in a 3-3-3 layout in economy, 24 premium economy passengers in a 2-4-2 layout, and 30 passengers in business class in a 1-2-1 layout.

Outside the United States, Philippine Airlines is also expanding its presence in China. The airline has plans to operate three flights a week between Clark International Airport in Mabalacat and Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport, which is also known as the gateway to the Southeastern part of China’s Fujian province.

Philippine Airlines’ flights from New York to Manila fall short of seating for the increasing number of passengers on this route. That is why the current Airbus 340 having 254 seats will be replaced by the B777-300ER with a total of 370 seats including 42 in the Business Class and 328 in the Economy Class. Evidently, the new aircraft has more seating capacity by 46% than the existing one.

One of Boeing’s bestselling airplanes, B777-300ER comes with a host of passenger-friendly features including power sockets and USB ports. Both cabins of the aircraft – Business and Economy – are equipped with modern inflight entertainment and high-speed Wi-Fi systems making it possible for travelers to stay engaged and connected in the sky.

Philippine Airlines operates flights between New York and Manila with a stopover in Vancouver. Boeing 777 has already been in service for flights between San Francisco and Manila, Los Angeles and Manila, Toronto and Manila as well. All Airbus 340s will be replaced by B777s in Philippine Airlines’ fleet in 2016.

The upcoming flights from Manila to New York and from New York to Manila will be efficient as well as economical due to deployment of the new Boeing 777-300ER. PAL’s signature Filipino service will be offered to passengers in both travel cabins of the aircraft on this route, according to Jaime J. Bautista, President and COO of Philippine Airlines.
