American Airlines is all set to redefine its on-ground hospitality in the United States. American Airlines has shortlisted New York JFK airport, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Miami International Airport (MIA), Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) where flagship lounges will be set up at the first phase of the multi-million dollar project.

The new American Airlines lounges in the US will be furnished with a la modish furniture, equipped with advanced power outlets and graced with multicultural dining space. Dining services at the flagship lounges will be designed in keeping with new F&B concepts. The airline promises to treat premium passengers to an exclusive ‘five-star’ restaurant experience at the upcoming lounges.

The first flagship lounge is scheduled for opening at New York JFK airport in early 2017. Dining at the new American Airlines lounges in the US will be a complimentary offer. The full-service table menu will have seasonal dishes cooked with locally-sourced ingredients from multiple cuisines. The same ‘five-star’ dining concept will be introduced at other airport lounges across the United States.

Each of the new American Airlines lounges in the US will have its own executive chef to serve the gastronomic needs of guests with different palates. All first and business class travelers with confirmed tickets for American Airlines’ transpacific, transatlantic, transcontinental and deep South American flights will be eligible to access the flagship lounges and enjoy the complimentary ‘five-star’ hospitality.

“Estimated at more than US$3 billion, the project will cement our brand image, value and service in the minds of our customers so that they fly with us every time. The USP of this project is flagship dining with ‘five-star’ restaurant service which will make us stand out in the competition-driven aviation hospitality sector,” said Andrew Nocella, CMO of American Airlines.

Apart from the new American Airlines lounges in the US, the project includes a plan to upgrade the existing Admirals Club lounges. 15 airport lounges in the airline’s network are shortlisted for renovation which will take place over the next few years. Houston George Bush International Airport (IAH) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) will also get American Airlines’ flagship lounges.

A plan to upgrade American Airlines’ Arrivals Lounge at London Heathrow Airport with new amenities for dining, recreation and relaxation has been proposed under the project. “On-ground hospitality should match the sophistication and luxury of flying in American Airlines’ first and business classes,” said Andrew Nocella.
